Milton Karisa Dominates at 2022/23 Uganda Premier League Awards

The 2022/23 Uganda Premier League Awards took place on Thursday night, with Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa emerging as the biggest winner of the evening. Karisa’s outstanding performances played a crucial role in Vipers’ successful campaign, where they clinched the domestic double.

Karisa scooped four accolades, including the prestigious Player of the Season award. He faced tough competition from former Maroons FC goalkeeper Simon Tamale and SC Villa striker Charles Bbale, but ultimately emerged as the top choice. In addition to the Player of the Season title, Karisa also secured the Coaches’ Player of the Season award, Most Assists of the Season, and a place in the Best XI of the Season.

Other notable winners at the event included Simon Tamale, who was recognized as the Goalkeeper of the Season. Hillary Panuel Mukundane claimed the Best Defender award, while Laban Tibita was honored as the Best Midfielder. Allan Kayiwa finished as the Top Scorer of the campaign, netting an impressive 13 goals. Darius Ojok was named the Best Young Player of the Season, showcasing his talent and potential.

The Players’ Player of the Season award went to Charles Bbale, highlighting the respect and recognition he earned from his peers. Blacks Power FC received the Fair Play Award for their exemplary conduct throughout the season, and Andrew ‘Fimbo’ Mukasa was honored with the prestigious Platinum Award.

The ceremony also featured the announcement of the Best XI of the Season, which included standout players from various clubs. Simon Tamale (Maroons FC) was chosen as the goalkeeper, while Grant Matsiko (Wakiso Giants FC), Dennis Omony Kaka (Soltilo Bright Stars FC), and Gift Fred (SC Villa) formed the defensive line. The midfield was comprised of Hillary Panuel Mukundane (Vipers SC), Lawrence Bukenya (Wakiso Giants FC), Laban Tibita (Busoga United FC), and Gaddafi Wahab (Arua Hill SC). Joining Karisa in the forward line were Allan Kayiwa (Express FC) and Charles Bbale (SC Villa).

The 2022/23 Uganda Premier League Awards celebrated the outstanding contributions of these talented players and recognized their achievements throughout the season. Their performances showcased the quality of football in Uganda and provided fans with memorable moments on the pitch.
