The Nyege Nyege Festival has been the talk of the country for some days now.
Parliament a few days ago ruled that this Festival won’t happen as its a breeding ground for sexual immorality.
However, shortly after that, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja the Prime Minister overran Parliament’s decision and declared the Festival would go on undeterred.
This has seen the two arms of government, the Legislature and Executive clash.
Many people who have been opposing the Festival from going on have been claiming that it’s very evil and a breeding ground for sexual immorality.
Now the former Minister of Ethics and Integrity Miria Matembe has also said the same.
Matembe said that this event is evil whether there is evidence or not.
She said that whether evidence is there or not the Nyege Nyege Festival is evil.
According to Matembe this could even be the reason why Uganda is facing the calamities its going through.
She added that the devil works through water and the Festival being at the source of the Nile is a clear example of how devilish this festival is.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Among reiterated Parliament’s stance on the festival.
She said that Parliament made a decision about the Festival not happening and they won’t rescind it.
She also told the Executive to do its work and avoid interfering with the Legislature.
