The Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago says the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is perpetuating violence in the Soroti East by election.
Lukwago who was on the campaign trail of FDC’S flag bearer Moses Attan yesterday during campaigns said that they as FDC, they are peaceful and are only hunting for the votes. However, he was quick to distance his team from any violence related activities, claiming, it’s rather the NRM which is wrecking anarchy in the area. He added that the security forces are intimidating and arresting people for no reason. Lukwago also said that its their right to go to Soroti and campaign for their candidate.
Lukwago also added that the NRM IS thriving on bribery, launching projects and giving people handouts. They are however determined to make sure that they win this election. He added how he hopes that the teams they have assembled for this election are not beaten.
The election is all heated up after campaigns were concluded yesterday. There is however fear that there might be bloodshed in the aftermath of this election.
