National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s planned visit to Kayunga where he was to rally support for party flag bearer Harriet Nakwede ahead of the Kayunga LC 5 Chairperson elections set to be held on Thursday, December 16 2021, has been foiled.
The Police and military have been deployed to stop Bobi Wine from making his way to Kayunga citing the chaos that is expected when he visits the area with a heated campaigning period.
Bobi Wine posted on his Twitter account this morning “This morning, ahead of my planned visit to Kayunga District to campaign for our flag bearer, the Police and Military deployed overnight around my home in an apparent attempt to block me from leaving…”
The Kayunga LC 5 chairperson’s race has attracted six candidates including Andrew Muwonge of the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party, Harriet Nakwede of the National Unity Platform-NUP, Anthony Waddimba from the Democratic Party-DP, and independent candidates; Boniface Bandikubi, Majid Nyanzi and Jamil Kamoga. They are all seeking to replace Feffeka Serubogo, who died just months after taking office.
