Vipers complete double over KCCA FC at Lugogo

StarTimes UPL defending champions Vipers SC completed a double over arch-rivals KCCA FC in the 2020/21 season after defeating the 13-time champions 2-1 in their own backyard, the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Morley Byekwaso’s troubles continued to deepen as KCCA FC suffered a second consecutive home loss and a third of the season having lost to Bright Stars and URA FC already.

Vipers unleashed their venom over their arch-rivals straight from the onset as they showed no respect making several attempts on Charles Lukwago’s goal. The hosts too forged some responses for a fair first stanza as it ended goalless at the break.

Five minutes into the resumption, Yunus Sentamu found the target for the visitors with his 13th goal of the season to tighten his grip on the top scorer’s boot.

Sentamu’s fellow returnee Milton Kaliisa added the second, two minutes later, as Young left-back Aziz Kayondo took credit for both assists.

Byekwaso’s hosts worked hard for a comeback but could only settle for Denis’ Iguma’s consolation in the 66th minute.

The tactician’s late introductions of Bright Anukani and Juma Balinya yielded nothing as his opposite number Fred Kajoba left with all the points.

This further frustrates KCCA FC’s title hopes as they remain 4th with 37 points while Vipers go a point shy of table leaders URA FC who are on 50.
