Errant LDUs to be withdrawn for further training witht the UPDF

Following general public outcry about the Local Defense Unit (LDU) and concerns on their behavior during operations, the UPDF has finally decided to offer the reserve force further training to cover up for the gaps in a bid to ultimately incorporate those that will pass  into the army.

Almost every time someone mentions the word lock down, the thought of LDUs flashes close.  For a while, their conduct has attracted more questions than answers from the public. They are a big mention in shooting incidents and several cases of public concern.

A lot do with this misconduct has been pegged poor training. First, the Democratic Party (dp) seems to have an issue and suggestion. The UPDF also says they can’t condone and are now moving to find a grand workable solution.

This as Defense and Veteran Affairs ministry accounted for the 2016-2021 term of office during the NRM manifesto week address.

The minister also highlights budget constrains as one of the challenges faced albeit having a biggest share in the national budget.  Even then, according to him a lot has been achieved.  He also has a word for further army operations with other agencies and the troops’ seeming endless stay on the streets

The LDUs have and still to work alongside the UPDF in different operations like village patrol, curfew enforcement and food distribution during the local down among others.
