All is not well at Old Kira Road Kamwokya – with opposition political party National Unity Platform (NUP) accusing the ruling NRM of courting many of its yet to swear in legislators and other leaders around the country.
Party Secretary-General, David Lewis Rubongoya made the allegations during the announcing of dates for a two days’ retreat for NUP leaders in Kampala.
Swearing in for the newly elected legislators may be over a month away but the leadership of the new party NUP is unsettled over claims the ruling NRM is courting its legislators – with a view to bribing them.
This is not the first time NUP is accusing the NRM of bribing its members. During the campaigns, several NUP candidates across the political divide resigned from their races – acts the party blamed on bribes offered by NRM.
The retreat that starts this Friday is to be attended by the party’s top leadership, newly elected MPs, Councilors and Coordinators.
