Busoga United defeats Onduparaka to win first three

Busoga United has handed new Onduparaka boss Joseph Mutyaba a rude welcome to the StarTimes UPL after defeating the West Nile club for the very first time since being promoted to Uganda’s top-flight in the 2016/17 season.

Busoga United who had won the previous three games defeated Onduparaka 2-0 at the FUFA Technical centre Njeru to register a fourth in a row and start the second round of the season on a brighter note.

Magero Balabala netted from the spot in the opening minutes of the first half when Shaka Ssozi and Isma Mugulusi scored a goal each to hand the hosts a fully deserved win.

Onduparaka fell behind inside three minutes when Shaka Ssozi was brought down by Hamzah Geriga in the penalty area.

The early goal really impacted the visitors whose little efforts to restore parity were frustrated by a more organised Busoga side till half time.

Ismail Mugulusi doubled Busoga’s lead in the 54th minute after being gifted set up by Shaka Ssozi.

Busoga United who has now won four in a row displaced Wakiso Giants in the 11th place on the table with 17 points as Onduparaka remains in 8th on 21 points.

Busoga United FC will face Vipers in their next UPL game on April 13, while Onduparaka host Kitara in the league on April 12th.

The StarTimes UPL action continues tomorrow as SC Villa visits MYDA FC at the King George IV Stadium.
