Aruu County MP Odonga Otto has been granted a non-cash bail of 500,000 shillings in Gulu where he is accused of assaulting a journalist in 2019. This followed another bail granted to Odonga Otto by the court in Pader where he is also accused of assaulting two people in 2018.
At around 1 pm, the Aruu county MP Odonga Otto arrived in Gulu court after being granted bail from Pader magistrate court on two counts of assault; this time to face a similar case where he is being accused of assaulting a radio journalist during the FUFA drum games in 2019.
Gulu Grade one magistrate Christine Turibamwe granted him a non cash bail of 500, 000 shillings with a caution to appear in court on the 28th of April.
Otto’s lead counsel Dalton Opwonya says the cases are politically motivated vowing to sue government and the people responsible for his arrest.
Legislators from Acholi sub – region called on court and Odonga otto’s to opt for an out of court settlement noting the cases were manageable.
MP odonga otto is accused of 3 assault cases, two in Pader in 2018 and another in in Gulu.
Hearing of the cases was adjourned to 6th of May and 28th of April in Gulu and Pader respectively.
