Joseph Mayanja denied NUP bearer’s flag in favor of Latif Ssebagala for Mayorship

Singer Joseph Mayanja alias Chameloene has been denied National Unity Platform (NUP) flag in favor of former Kawempe North Member of Parliament, in the upcoming Kampala Mayoral race.

In a statement by NUP’s Election Management Committee Chairperson, Mercy Walukamba, the singer and other aggrieved parties have been given until end of today (September 20) to lodge in their petitions.

“All aggrieved parties may lodge appeals to the Electoral Management Committee by dropping them off at the Central Region office located in Lubaga, Kampala. All appeals must be lodged in by September 20th, 2020 at 4:00pm and must state specific grounds on which appeal is premised,” the statement reads.

Chameleone has officially picked National Unity Platform (NUP) nomination forms for the position of Kampala Lord Mayor, setting up a mouthwatering primary contest with Latif Ssebagala and Brother to Nasser Ssebagala Seeya

Chameloene who was just recently unveiled by the Democratic Party and appointed national mobiliser, abandoned the party and joined the NUP wagon, in which he sought to be given the Mayorship flag bearer status.

His argument was that the people of Kampala are tired of old leadership and he comes to breathe change into the Lord Mayor office.

It is not clear whether Chameloene intends to proceed on the independent ticket or his race comes to an abrupt end.
