President Museveni Elevates Gen. Ddamulira, Orders Probe Into Kampala Bomb Threats and Alleged Assassination Plot

In a swift and decisive move, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has promoted Brigadier General Christopher Ddamulira Sserujongi, the Director of Crime Intelligence in the Uganda Police Force, to the rank of Major General. The promotion comes amidst rising concerns over a series of bomb threats and attacks in Kampala, which have sparked fears of a broader plot targeting the Head of State.

According to reliable sources from State House, the President has now tasked Major General Ddamulira with spearheading a high-level investigation into the recent terror-related incidents, especially those occurring along routes frequently used by the President himself. Museveni is reportedly unsettled by the pattern of attacks—often executed in the early morning hours and along roads leading to and from State House.

“What concerns the President most is the inability to capture these attackers alive for interrogation,” a source disclosed. “He wants to understand their motives, sponsors, and long-term objectives.”

In response, Major General Ddamulira has constituted a powerful security board chaired by Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces. This board will comprise senior officials from Uganda’s top security agencies. They are expected to summon and interview key personnel across military and police intelligence units. Arrests are anticipated if evidence implicates any individuals in these alleged plots.

Insiders say President Museveni holds significant trust in Gen. Ddamulira, describing him as “uncompromisable” and immune to the influence of internal “mafia” elements within the government.

This isn’t the first time the President has relied on trusted military officials to crack down on threats from within. Years ago, he averted a looming internal coup within the Uganda Police Force by deploying Gen. Henry Tumukunde, who dismantled the infamous Boda Boda 2010 group and applied pressure on then-Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura.

As 2026 elections draw nearer, the security of the President and the country at large remains a top priority. The formation of this new security board signals Museveni’s resolve to preempt any subversive activity aimed at destabilizing the country or targeting its leadership.
