Butaleja MP Florence Nebanda, Sister to Late Cerinah, Survives Shocking Assassination Attempt

Reports received by this website suggest that Butaleja District Woman MP Hon Florence Andiru Nebanda narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. Sources indicate that the incident occurred shortly after she collected her nomination forms in pursuit of re-election for her parliamentary seat on the NRM ticket.

According to Hon Nebanda, the experience was extremely frightening for her. She recounted noticing a man on a motorcycle following her around 6 pm. This disturbing event took place near the Doho Rice Scheme.

She continued to describe the unidentified individual, who was clad in a grey uniform similar to that of certain security personnel. As he tailed her vehicle, she was only able to catch a glimpse of the UAC digits on the motorcycle.

“I observed him attempting to load a gun from a distance using the rearview mirror. Fearing for my safety, I directed my driver to swiftly reverse the car and return towards Nampologoma trading center, where it is crowded and safer,” she stated.

Some skeptics, however, argue that the MP is merely trying to create drama to garner sympathy from her constituents, aiming for an easy victory in the upcoming 2026 elections. Notably, Hon Florence Nebanda has held this position since 2013 after taking over from her younger sister, Hon Cerinah Nebanda, who passed away in 2012 under mysterious circumstances.
