Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anitah Among, has officially announced that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will deliver the much-anticipated State of the Nation Address on June 5, 2025. This national event will mark the formal opening of the Fifth and final session of Uganda’s 11th Parliament.
The President’s address is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the country’s current status across all sectors—ranging from the economy, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, to governance, security, and international relations. It will also highlight government priorities as the administration moves into its final year before the next general elections.
Speaker Among emphasized the significance of this session, calling it a “defining moment for the 11th Parliament,” as lawmakers gear up to tie up unfinished business and push through key legislative and policy matters before the term winds down.
Following the President’s address, the National Budget for the Financial Year 2025/2026 will be read on June 12, 2025. This event, traditionally presided over by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, will outline government spending priorities and economic recovery plans for the coming fiscal year.
With the State of the Nation Address and the Budget Reading just days apart, the month of June is set to be a pivotal period for Uganda’s governance and development agenda. All eyes will be on Parliament as it enters the home stretch of a term defined by reform, resilience, and post-pandemic recovery.
