A key highlight of this initiative is its emphasis on empowering local women through skills development. The Maama Kits provided are not imported but crafted in Uganda, using the skilled hands of Busoga women. These mothers and artisans have poured their talent into creating the kits, which include vital items for childbirth, from reusable baby clothes to sanitary supplies.

“These kits are a testament to the ingenuity and strength of the women of Busoga,” said Madam Loy Joy Lwabaai, Twegaite Global’s head of Women and Gender Affairs. “We are proud to empower these women, offering them opportunities to create something life-changing while honoring their hard work and creativity.”

Leadership and Vision Drive Change
This initiative is the result of inspired leadership. Madam Loy Joy Lwabaai has been at the forefront, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to gender equality and the well-being of women and children. Monica Namukwana, the organization’s founder, and Ronald Lwabaayi, board member and President of Livelihood Development International Initiatives, have played instrumental roles in steering Twegaite Global’s vision.

Together, they work closely with local coordinators like Namudhiba Catherine, Nambago Sarah, and Nabwiire Annet to ensure the successful implementation of this life-saving initiative.

A Community Effort Backed by Generous Donors
The Maama Kits Project is made possible by the generous contributions of donors and well-wishers. Key supporters like Mrs. Lydia Mukasa Hoeven, Mrs. Juliet A. Najjuma Udi, and Mr. Matthias Mukoba have paved the way for safer births and brighter futures for the people of Busoga.

A Message of Gratitude and Hope
Madam Lwabaai expressed heartfelt gratitude to the women of Busoga for their resilience and ingenuity. “The dedication of these women to their families and communities inspires us daily. By empowering them, we are building a foundation for sustainable development.”
