Speaker of Parliament Anita Among says she will serve one term

Despite allegations of corruption, Speaker Anita Among has said that she will serve two terms. As the head of what many see to be a corrupt parliament, Speaker Among has been under fire for the most part of this year.

The speaker has come under heavy fire for living a luxury lifestyle that is paid for by government dollars.

On Sunday, though, Among declared that she had “only one term to serve.”

Anita Among, the Speaker of Parliament, says those that are calling for her resignation and calling for her to be corrupt are misinformed since she would only hold the position for two times before passing it on to her deputy, Thomas Tayebwa.

I only have one term to serve. When I finish serving my one term, I will give (the seat) to Rt Hon Tayebwa to continue,” she said.

Because you don’t need to cling to power… then I will hand it over to him.

At a thanksgiving celebration hosted on Sunday, July 24, by the family of Hon. Tayebwa, the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda North in the Mitooma district, and his father, Mzee Daudi Bangirana, Hon. Among delivered a speech.

At St. Karoli Lwanga Kigarama Parish, a 2.5 billion Catholic church structure was dedicated at the occasion.
