Minister Chris Baryomunsi faults Multiparty politics for the violence in Uganda

It’s no doubt that politics in Uganda is arriving at its most violent stage.

People belonging to different political factions have been beating up each other and engaging in all kinds of reckless behavior.

This is especially the Opposition fans majorly NUP clashing with those of NRM.

The latest was the beating up of NRM mobilizer Majambere at the burial of Jakana Nadduli the son of veteran politician and 1986 bush war hero, Al Hajji Nadduli.

Majambere was beaten to pulp by NUP supporters at this burial losing all his front teeth.

This trend is however not new and neither does it look likely to stop as tensions keep soaring higher.

Now the Minister of Information, Dr Chris Baryomunsi while appearing on the NBS Frontline program alluded this to multipartism.

He added that although the state is accountable for such deeds, other political actors should also be held accountable.

Baryomunsi then faulted political leaders for the unfoldings in Luweero at Jakana Nadduli’s burial.

“I can trace this hostility and criminal activism to the time we went into the multiparty system.

Much as it’s true that the state must be accountable, political actors must also be accountable.

If you look at what happened in Luweero at Hajji Nadduli’s home, the charging of the mob came from the political leaders,” said the minister.

Further, he also added that he thinks multipartism has been misunderstood by many in the country.

For a long time many political analysts have been calling for a national dialogue and reconciliation efforts.

This is because the country is sitting on a time bomb which might explode soon because of the differences in political ideolgoies.

However, none of all the political actors seem ready to for this challenge.
