David Isabirye: Court upholds FDC’s candidate for Jinja North

The High Court in Jinja has upheld the election of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s David Isabirye Aga as Member of Parliament for Jinja North constituency following the withdrawal of an election petition by NRM’s Muhammad Bidondole Bismarck.

The petitioner, Bidondole, cited harmony in the constituency as one of his grounds for withdrawing the petition to which the court consequently upheld his declaration as the duly elected MP for the newly created Jinja North constituency.

The trial judge Patrick Mangeni ordered both parties to meet their own costs.

Bidondole had petitioned court challenging Isabirye’s academic qualifications shortly after the elections were finalised and the FDC candidate confirmed as the rightfully elected candidate.

Isabirye formerly served as a journalist attached to Busoga One FM.
