Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Air flight 182 goes missing moments after take off from Jakarta

Indonesian aviation authorities can confirm that they have lost contact with Sriwijaya Air flight, call sign SJ-182, minutes after it took off from Jakarta, Let Out News can understand.

According to Flightradar24, the Boeing 733-500 series, vanished from radar four minutes after departing from Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 2:36pm as it was heading for the city of Pontianak in West Kalimantan.

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) confirmed that there were plane debris discovered rom the suspected crash site, between the islands Laki and Lancang just north off the coast of Tangerang city, but the agency has not linked the debris to SJ-182.

Flight Radar via a tweet confirmed that the SJ182 took a sharp loss in altitude before going out of reach.

As per this time, Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has confirmed that SJ-182 crashed in the waters near Laki Island.

Local media have reported that there were 56 passengers on board comprising 46 adults, seven children, and three infants, as well as two pilots and four flight crew.
