Bashir Mutanda joins Mbarara City

Former SC Villa striker Bashir Mutanda has joined StarTimes UPL side Mbarara City FC on a two-year contract.

Mutanda who was unveiled on Wednesday morning as Mbarara City’s new signing at Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo joins the Ankole Lions as a free agent after leaving SC Villa at the end of last season.

Mutanda who spent two seasons at the Jogoos after joining from Vipers SC in 2018 joins the Ankole Lions as a replacement for the departed Brian Aheebwa.

Before being unveiled by Mbarara City, Mutanda almost joined URA FC but failed to agree on personal terms with the Tax collectors.

He becomes Mbarara City’s fourth signing of the ongoing transfers window and joins Ramathan Kareem, Ronald Edwok and Godfrey Kalungi who moved to the west in the last few weeks.

Mbarara City FC finished seventh on the Uganda Premier League table last season with 36 points from 25 games played as the league was abruptly ended due to the pandemic.
