NRM Government Boosts Youth Empowerment through Lango Presidential Industrial Hub

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) government’s commitment to skilling Uganda’s youth continues to take shape through the Lango Presidential Zonal Industrial Hub, located at Lira University. The hub is fast becoming a center of transformation, equipping young people with hands-on skills to create jobs and spur local development.

Currently, 240 students have enrolled for the third intake, joining the 459 trainees who successfully completed the first and second sessions. The learners are receiving practical training in various trades, including:

  • Building and Construction
  • Carpentry
  • Welding and Metal Fabrication
  • Hairdressing
  • Tailoring and Fashion Design
  • Bakery and Confectionery
  • Knitting
  • Architecture

This government initiative is part of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s broader vision of turning Uganda’s youth from job seekers into job creators. By promoting technical and vocational education, the NRM government is addressing unemployment while building a skilled workforce to drive industrialization and economic growth.

Officials say the hub is already transforming lives in Lango by producing self-reliant youth ready to start businesses, employ others, and contribute to national development — a clear reflection of the NRM’s enduring focus on “wealth creation for all.”
