In a bold step towards strengthening its grassroots presence, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially broken ground for the construction of a state-of-the-art party office in Mayuge District. The event, which took place amidst jubilant party supporters and local leaders, marks a significant milestone in the NRM’s ongoing efforts to deepen its institutional presence across the country.
The ceremony was presided over by Hon. Capt. Mike Mukula, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, who emphasized the party’s commitment to bringing political infrastructure closer to the people. “This office will not only be a nerve center for NRM activities in the district but also a symbol of our dedication to organized political engagement and service delivery,” Mukula said during his address.
The Mayuge office is part of a broader national initiative by the NRM Secretariat to modernize and construct district-level offices that are fully equipped to handle party mobilization, policy dissemination, and administrative coordination.
Speaking at the event, local leaders praised the move, noting that it would enhance political participation and bring party services closer to the ordinary citizen. Residents expressed hope that the new office would also serve as a hub for youth engagement, women empowerment programs, and civic education initiatives.
The groundbreaking comes at a time when the party is scaling up preparations for the 2026 general elections, with a focus on digital transformation, transparency, and local-level mobilization. Party members in the region hailed the development as a sign of the NRM’s continued dominance and commitment to service.
As construction begins, the NRM hopes this modern office will not only serve administrative purposes but also become a unifying point for the community, reinforcing the party’s mantra of “Steady Progress.”
This move underscores NRM’s strategic approach to solidifying its base and ensuring its structures are responsive, visible, and accessible to the people of Uganda—starting right at the grassroots in Mayuge.
