In a significant shake-up at City Hall, President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Hajjati Sharifah Buzeki as the new Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
Ms. Buzeki, who previously served as the Commissioner of Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Public Service, steps into the role following the tenure of Dorothy Kisaka.
The announcement was made by Mr. Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Press Secretary to the President, via social media on Wednesday. He stated, “It’s true that His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni has appointed a new Executive Director of @KCCAUG in the names of Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki and Mr. Benon Kigenyi as her Deputy. Their names have been forwarded to the public service for formalization.”
Ms. Buzeki’s appointment marks her as the third woman to lead KCCA, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Musisi and Dorothy Kisaka.
Her extensive experience in public service is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the management of Uganda’s bustling capital city.
As the new Executive Director, Ms. Buzeki will be tasked with overseeing the implementation of policies aimed at improving infrastructure, service delivery, and the overall quality of life for Kampala’s residents.
Her appointment has been met with optimism, with stakeholders anticipating a renewed focus on addressing the city’s challenges.
The formalization of her appointment is pending completion of the necessary processes by the Public Service.
Once finalized, Ms. Buzeki is expected to assume her duties and outline her vision for the future of Kampala.
