Bobi Wine Demands Justice for Fallen Bodyguard Frank Ssenteza

On December 26, 2024, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, marked the fourth anniversary of the tragic death of his former bodyguard, Frank Ssenteza. Ssenteza was reportedly run over by a military vehicle during Uganda’s tumultuous 2020 presidential campaigns—a claim the government has consistently denied.

During a memorial mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Cathedral in Kitovu, Masaka City, Kyagulanyi expressed his frustration over the lack of justice for Ssenteza. He stated, “It’s been four painful years since that tragic day, and yet, up to now, there has been no justice for this crime.”

The mass, presided over by Bishop Serverus Jjumba, attracted thousands of NUP supporters, party leaders, and members of the public who came to honor Ssenteza’s memory. Kyagulanyi expressed deep gratitude to the church and Ssenteza’s family for their resilience in the face of grief and their unwavering pursuit of justice.

Kyagulanyi urged NUP leaders to draw inspiration from Ssenteza’s sacrifices and to remain committed to truth and justice in their political journey. “All of us must strive to live by the truth because the truth will set us and our nation free,” he added.

Ssenteza’s death remains a flashpoint in Uganda’s political discourse, with human rights organizations and opposition figures continuing to demand accountability. Kyagulanyi reiterated his hope that justice would one day prevail for Ssenteza and other victims of political violence. “May Frank’s soul continue resting in peace. May God grant that one day, comrades like Frank finally get justice,” he concluded.
