Stanbic Bank Uganda is poised to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a role that still remains vacant after the departure of Anne Juuko more than 12 months ago. After leading the bank for over three years, Juuko, who was the first female to hold the position, was appointed to a regional role in Standard Bank Group, overseeing markets in East Africa. Her tenure at Stanbic Uganda was marked by notable achievements, including significant profit growth and successful initiatives like the SACCO financing program and Stanbic4Her, which aimed to support women entrepreneurs in Uganda
Sources close to this website can confirm the bank is now set to appoint Kenneth Mumba Kalifungwa as the new CEO. Kalifungwa, currently with ABSA Bank as the Chief Commercial Officer, is expected to step into the top position.
Kalifungwa’s appointment is seen as a strategic move as the bank continues to expand its presence in Uganda’s competitive banking sector. He is expected to continue the legacy of profitability and customer service excellence that was established under Juuko’s leadership
His leadership will be crucial as Stanbic navigates challenges and opportunities in a rapidly evolving financial landscape, particularly with the increasing demand for digital banking services and the expansion of affordable financial services across the country.
