Stanbic Uganda Cup: KCCA edge Mbarara to storm last 8

Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) FC sailed through to the Quarter Finals of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup following a 2-1 over Big League side Mbarara City on Friday at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Rogers Mato and Simon Tshisungu Kankonde netted in either half to grant the Kasasiro Boys passage through to the last eight while Henry Kitegenyi scored the only goal of the day for the Ankole Lions.

Mato opened the day’s account with an instinctive left-footed effort in the 2 minute of the game before Kitegenyi could equalize in the 37th.

In the 65″ minute, Kakonde linked superbly with Allan Okello before the former brilliantly slotted in the second, which was also the evening’s winner.

KCCA have now kept their dream of a domestic double alive, as they also lead the proceedings in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
