Brenda Nantongo: Gen Katumba Wamala laid to rest

Hundreds have gathered at Kikandwa village to send off Brenda Nantongo Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala’s daughter who was gunned down on Tuesday. While addressing mourners Gen Katumba vowed to fully investigate the attempt on his life that also led to the death of Brenda Nantongo and Haruna Kayondo – his driver.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in Kikandwa village in Mukono municipality to send off Brenda Nantongo the assassinated daughter to Gen Katumba Wamala.

In trying to observe the standard operating procedures to curb the spread of the coronavirus some of the mourners followed the proceedings on projectors.

In the sermon, Dr Steven Kazimba Mugalu the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda challenged government to tighten Gen Katumba’s security detail and also investigate the irresponsible use of guns in Uganda.

Friends and family described the deceased as a humble and peaceful child who brought warmth in the home.

While addressing the mourners, Gen Katumba narrated the events on the fateful day citing his bodyguard Sgt Khalid and the boda boda cyclist who saved his life as everyone else looked on including those driving government owned vehicles.

General Katumba Wamala vowed to investigate to a logical conclusion the attempt on his life.

At around 4 pm the 33-year-old Brenda Nantongo now the late was laid to rest at her ancestral home in Kikandwa Mukono district.
