State House’s Ismail Kivumbi remanded in Kitalya

Buganda Road court has remanded State House-Entebbe’s caterer Ismail Kivumbi to Kitalya Prisons until next month for stealing Shs. 30 million meant for buying food and later trying to flee the country..

Kivumbi a former state house official on Wednesday 24th March 2021, appeared before Buganda Road Grade One magistrate for taking of plea on charges of embezzlement.

Kivumbi who has been in charge of the catering services at the State House is charged with embezzling State House funds totalling Shs. 30 milliom which was given to him to cater for food and instead disappeared with it.

He was arrested at Entebbe International Airport as he attempted to flee the country. However, he Kivumbi denied the charges, claiming these were just allegations. State prosecutor Isaac Kyazze told Court investigations were still ongoing.

Kivumbi had asked court for bail but his sureties lacked the requirements as asked for by court. He was later remanded Kivumbi to Kitalya prisons until 6th/April/2021.
