Sports given green light to resume

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has given outdoor Sporting activities the green light to resume as the Ugandan government continues easing on the lockdown measures which were instituted in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Museveni made the pronouncement during the state of the Nation address regarding the COVID-19 pandemic on September 20, 2020.

Sport has been on a halt since March when a ban was instituted on all mass gatherings and this comes as a welcome gesture to all parties involved.

However, there are guidelines/Standard Operating Procedures that were issued by the Ministry of Health and will need to be adhered to by all the respective stakeholders.

The President also noted that there will not be spectators allowed during both games and training sessions and that before any activities can take place, all players and the parties involved will need to be tested 72 hours before at the process shall be repeated after 14-days.

He also noted that the players taking part in the activities are exempted from wearing masks during the games and other related activities.
