Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Commander of the Land Forces has today 8th March 2022 announced his retirement from the Army.
Muhoozi who assumed the role of Commanding the Armed Land Forces after having been the head of the SFC that guards his father announced the retirement through Twitter.
According to his post, he said that after 28 years serving in the most powerful army on the planet, he’s decided to hang up his gun.
He added that he has absolute respect and admiration for all the women and men that put on the Armed Forces uniform to serve the country.
The Army us however yet to come out officially on Gen Muhoozi’s announcement.
His announcement comes at a time when he’s on the position of Lieutenant General. He’s also the current advisor on special Operations.
The retirement comes at a time when there are numerous rumors that there is a project for him to succeed his father in 2026.
This has been making rounds for some time now although both him and his father denied it.
These said that Ugandans have the right to choose the leader who they want to lead them.
He’s however been engaging in more political issues such as meeting Rwandan president Paul Kagame on the reopening of the Gatuna border.
