Kakwenza Rukira’s detention raises many loopholes- Andrew Mwenda

Accredited journalist and CEO of the Independent Magazine, Andrew Mwenda has come out to blow loopholes in the detention saga of Kakwenza Rukira that happened last year in December.

This saw the author tortured beyond words and after being released on bail, he escaped from the country to Europe via Malawi.

Now Andrew Mwenda has come out to say that watching Kakwenza’s lawyer Eron Kiiza being interviewed on NBS TV by Daniel Lutaaya raises many unanswered questions.

Mwenda wonders how Kiiza and Kakwenza got to know that it was SFC that tortured him.

He further added that he is not excusing SFC of the torture but he rather felt that the journalist wasn’t doing so much to ask the fierce questions that can bring out the reality.

According to Mwenda, the sole role of journalists is to uncover the hidden truths from the common viewers eye to reality.

Mwenda also says that as journalist, part of one’s job is to go where everyone is afraid to go and dig out the dirt that maybe unearthed yet.

Besides Mwenda also wonders who is telling the truth between Kakwenza’s team and Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

This is because Kakwenza said that Muhoozi was among those that tortured him personally.

His lawyer added that Muhoozi met him 3 times although Muhoozi denied knowing who Kakwenza was until the media brought him to the light.

Mwenda was however attacked by majority of his followers who said that what’s obvious is that Kakwenza was tortured and the details will be discovered in court.
