Opposition MPS and few from the ruling party NRM, yesterday 3rd February 2022 stormed out of Parliament protesting the continued unaccounted for injustices going on in the country.
Led by the Leader of Opposition and the Mukungwe-Nyendo Mp, Hon Mathias Mpuuga, MPS sat on the parliamentary steps as they chanted “free our people.”
NUP leader, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu also urged Ugandans with a good conscience to stand with the MPs and protest against the continued human rights abuse in the country.
While replying to the MPs walking out of Parliament, the government chief whip, Hon Thomas Tayebwa said that it was a disappointment to see their colleagues walking out because there was room for engagement.
He however said that they will look into their issues and handle them accordingly.
NUP spokesperson and Nakawa east Mp Hon Joel Ssenyonyi however said that they are tired of the government’s pretense of dealing with these issues.
It should be recalled that ever since the 2021 general elections ended, a number of people have continued to be abducted by drones being manned by security operatives.
Most of these are Opposition affiliates especially to NUP.
A number of these have been killed, others subjectd to gross torture while others continue to languish in prison, being held incommunicado while others’ whereabouts are unknown.
