Former presidential candidate and Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) leader Gen Gregory Mugisha Muntu has come out to reveal that leaving FDC to start his own party was the best decision for him.
It should be recalled that Muntu after losing the party election to become chairman quit FDC and started his own party.
The ex military commander added that the major reason he quit the party was the difference in the goals between him and the Najjanankumbi based party.
Muntu however said that people can actually cooperate working together.
He added that whether other political parties attack them, they do not respond because they don’t have the time.
“You can cooperate without actually working together if you find that you don’t have common approaches. Leaving FDC was the best thing to do. We are not hostile to them; we never undermine them, we never provoke them. –
We take a direction; whether we are misunderstood or attacked by people who don’t understand it, we don’t respond,” Muntu said.
Muntu also said that as ANT, they are a serious party who mean what they say.
Honesty is a virtue they are true to build the party on according to the general.
Besides other Opposition political parties should appreciate ANT’s situation because it has never had a period to stabilize itself according to Muntu.
“We (ANT) are serious. When we say something, we mean it. We can’t leave you hanging. We study something like a party and give feedback. That is a culture we are building within the party.
Our sister parties should appreciate our situation. We (ANT) have never had a stable period to establish ourselves and strengthen our stability.”
He added that when a person or political party commits or engages in something, they have to do it to the best of their abilities so that it has positive impacts on the beneficiaries.
Muntu also said that he won’t feel fatigued until the country has a functional government.
