Hon Muwanga says that most of the criminals such as boda boda thieves have agents in the Police who help them to escape justice once they have been arrested.

The MP also revealed how it was heartbreaking to speak to the families of the Masaka Bijambiya killings.

“Until recently, there was a massive theft of boda bodas in the greater Masaka sub-region. Most of these thieves have agents in the Police who arrange for their release once they have been arrested. I have been battling such a cartel in my constituency. Buganda caucus at the height of the attacks in the region. Speaking to the families that were affected was very heartbreaking ,” Hon Muwanga said.

Muwanga just like most Opposition MPs expressed his disappointment over the UPDF’s presence in the DR Congo.

UPDF under Operation Shuuja left last month to counter the ADF rebels in the DRC.

This has however been met with stiff resistance from Uganda’s Opposition who claim the move was unconstitutional.

“I am not as excited as some of our friends in the security circles about our escapades in DRC. I believe that we need to address the.
ADF is just one of the rebel outfits operating in DRC. If we imagine that clearing ADF will pacify Congo, you are missing the point.”
