The South African presidency has announced how president Cyril Ramaphosa has tested positive for COVID 19.
It was further revealed that he’s being treated for minor symptoms of the disease.
Ramaphosa seems to have contracted the disease after attending the burial ceremony of the last apartheid president in South Africa FW De Klerk.
Ramaphosa who delivered a eulogy at De Klerk’s funeral left majority South Africans angered after his ‘sweet words’ towards the ex president.
In his words, Ramaphosa described De Klerk as a son of the African soil who had to be buried in the same soil that he was born.
This was much to the dismay of black South Africans who described Ramaphosa as a puppet of the white South Africans.
“We are still to reach the end of our journey towards a truly united, non-racial, non-sexist, prosperous and free South Africa. It should not and cannot be that the task of bringing about reconciliation rests squarely on the shoulders of those who were oppressed.
FW de Klerk was a man whose life was bound up in the fortunes of our country, its crises and its triumphs, its complexity and its contradictions.
To the De Klerk family, you have lost a husband, a father, and a grandfather. You have lost a brother and a friend. To you, and to his many friends and colleagues, I offer you my condolences and those of the South African government.”
