The government has come out to confirm the date on when all the rest of the academic Institutions will be opened.
Government in November opened up only post secondary Institutions and these are currently undergoing classes.
There has been a shrouded circumstance on when the rest of the schools will open up.
A meeting that was scheduled by the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni to talk about the reopening of schools was rejected by Opposition MPs.
This was supposed to take place at Kololo Independence Grounds but the MPs declined to attend citing this as being disrespectful by the Minister.
They instead said that the Minister should come to Parliament like other cabinet Ministers.
The Minister for higher education Prof JC Muyingo while passing out over 300 students that graduated in different vocational professions confirmed that the rest of the schools will be opened on the 10th of January 2022.
“All the other post secondary Institutions have already opened up. The other schools will open up on the 10th of January. It’s therefore important that we start preparing our children so that they are ready by then,” Minister JC Muyingo said.
Country wide vaccination of all teachers, non teaching staff and students has been ongoing for now a number of months.
The president however had set a target of 4.8 millon people to be vaccinated to open the economy wholly.
This target was surpassed last month but the president said that the country will be opened whether the number is hit or not.
There is however a scare of the new COVID 19 variant known as Omicron that has already broken out in a few countries which is feared to be deadlier than the other viruses that have previously mutated.
