There has been drama on social media especially Twitter in the aftermath of the announcement of Mirembe Rachel Sserwadda as UCU’s new guild president.
Mirembe a legal scholar at the Mukono based Institution beat off competition from Ayebare Phillip Bravo to become the University’s 24th guild president.

FDC claimed her as their candidate and even posted the congratulatory message on Twitter.
NRM however also took to their Twitter page through the NRM youth league to congratulate Mirembe for raising the yellow flag high.
Mirembe’s campaign posters however showed no allegiance to any party.
It’s not yet clear if she was in bed with either parties or if she played them to get into office.
Her campaign manifesto was built on the five pointer pillars of consisting reforms on health, education, security, accountability and formidable leadership.
This has however been able to break the NUP cycle which has been sweeping across all major learning post secondary Institutions for the past 2-3 years.
Meanwhile females have continued to put up shows in leadership roles in these Institutions.
Mirembe’s victory comes after Makerere University also elected Shamim Nambasa as the new guild president.
