Uganda Police Gives Detailed Report About Kampala Bombings

The country has woken up to a scare after two bombs exploded in the city centre killing a number of people and injuring others.

These exploded along Jubilee street and Parliamentary avenue.

There have also been other bomb scares around Kampala that the Police revealed have been taken care of.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga while addressing the media said that the CCTV footage showed that the bombs were blown off by a suicide bomber who died instantly.

Enanga added that other bombs were detonated by suicide bombers disguising as boda boda riders.

He further said that these bombs are attributed to ADF.

“These attacks come 22 days after the last suicide bomb attack on a Swift Safaris Bus. It clearly shows that the ADF linked radicalized groups, still have a desire to carry out lethal attacks, on soft targets, with suicide attackers and improvised explosive devices.”

“The fresh footages on CCTV clearly indicate how a male adult, putting on a black jacket, and carrying a back pack, detonated himself. He died instantly & the spillover effect caused additional injuries to police officers and other civilians who were within a radius of 30 metres. Two suicide bombers were clearly captured, on motorcycles, disguising as bodaboda riders. They detonated the bombs they were carrying on themselves, that killed them instantly,” Enanga revealed.

He further cautioned the public to be vigilant saying that these bombs are easily made because the ingredients are sold publicly.

So far the confirmed deaths are 6 people including two policemen.
