Democratic Party (DP) has announced the pending vacancy of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) seat currently occupied by Fred Mukasa Mbidde.
All those with the qualifications and interest have been told to present their credentials to the party secretary general.
Mbidde’s two term tenure is slated to end in 2022.
Once those interested hand in their credentials, the internal party search will go on before the elections and endorsement by NEC come in.
The party’s secretary general said that the candidates will be given 15 minutes to campaign and address members during the NEC session.
He also added that applicants are mandated to present the necessary documents and qualifications with them for their applications to be valid and received by the Secretariat.
“Applicants must pick and complete the nomination and expression of interest application form that must be returned to the national Secretariat with all the requirements in the form between the 15th-26th of November 2021 before closure of business,” the secretary general said.
Applicants seeking the party endorsement must pass all the Uganda constitutional necessities and credentials for the position of the MP as per the parliamentary elections Act as amendment 2015.
“The applicant must be a good standing member of the Democratic Party with a proven record of loyalty and commitment to the vision and mission to building the party,” the secretary general added.
