The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has come out to slice through the government for it’s continued closure of schools.
The former presidential candidate took to his social media to post a photo of himself in the ghetto alongside some kids there.
Kyagulanyi then said that these kids should be in schools but are just loitering around in streets.
He added that the current government doesn’t care about the plight of tomorrow’s generation apart from looting the country.
The singer turned politician went ahead to point out the UN statistics which show that Uganda has closed schools for the longest period in the entire world ever since the COVID 19 pandemic broke out.
Kyagulanyi proceeded to call upon the people to wake up and fight for their rights.
It should be recalled that schools in Uganda were closed in March 2020.
Efforts to reopen the schools in a staggered manner proved futile due to the outbreak of the second COVID 19 wave.
However some classes at different academic levels were able to proceed with a new time table and completed their programs.
Government authorised post secondary institutions to reopen on November 1 2021 and these have already resumed .
President Museveni also said that the economy will be fully reopened in January 2022.
Efforts to vaccinate learners, teachers and all non teaching staff are currently under way.
