Minister JC Muyingo warns schools about hiking school fees

State Minister of Higher Education Hon Dr John Chrystome Muyingo has come out to warn all schools including high institutions of learning and lower ones against being tempted to hike their fees structures ahead of the reopening of institutions of learning.

Muyingo said that these schools should remember to adhere to the standing ban of arbitrary increase of school fees and other charges.

He added that those who disobey this decree will have their licenses revoked.

He further said that the whole economy was badly affected by COVID 19 with parents having no capacity to pay hiked fees while many others are still failing to raise even the normal fees.

Muyingo also said that the government came up with this resolution to make sure that school going children can return to school as well as not pressurizing parents to be forced to pay what they cannot afford as per the economic standards currently.

High institutions of learning opened on the 1st of November 2021 while secondary and primary schools are expected reopen in January 2022.
