COSASE discovers man who became Engineer at 13 years in the CAA

The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSAE) yesterday 21st October 2021 uncovered filth in the Civil Aviation Authority.

The Committee under Nakawa west MP MP Joel Ssenyonyi quizzed the CAA led by it’s director, Dr Fred Bamwesigye.

Among the rot discovered by COSASE in the agency was an engineering surveyor contracted by the Civil Aviation Authority born in 1990.

However according to the records of this particular person, he became a surveyor in 2003 making him 13 years at the time of being appointed a thing that left the committee baffled on how this was possible.

Further, it was also discovered that Dr Fred Bamwesigye who is the new director of CAA bears age discrepancies in his documents.

The law stipulates that to hold Bamwesigye’s office, one should be between 33-55 years.

However, Bamwesigye amended his age to 54 years by deducting 4 from his 58 years which is indicated on some of his official documents.

When he was questioned about this anomaly, Bamwesigye said that he had since discovered his true birth date unlike what his parents told him since they weren’t sure about it.

The committee also queried the extra 2.1 billion shillings that was paid to the contractor who did nothing.

CAA officials defended themselves saying that they need more time to try and look into the matter to see how the money went to the contractor’s account.
