The Rwenzururu Kingdom under the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere has curtailed the 12th Coronation Ceremony celebrations which were slated to take place on the 19th of October 2021.

Harsh bail terms imposed on the Omusinga was given as the reason why this conclusion was arrived at.

Rwenzururu kingdom was going to celebrate the first coronation ceremony in a period of five years since the Kasese massacres and arrest of Mumbere in 2016.

Joseph Kule Muranga the kingdom’s prime minister however announced that the activities had been called off by King Mumbere who is under house arrest.

The Omustsinga is facing charges relating to treason, terrorism and murder in connection to the turmoil that happened on 27th November 2016 at the kingdom’s palace that left hundreds dead and others jailed.

This is not the first time the kingdom is cancelling the celebrations citing harsh bail conditions put on Mumbere.

He was granted bail but then barred from traveling to his kingdom in the Rwenzori region.
