Muwanga Kivumbi faults security for Masaka murders

Butambala Mp Hon Muwanga Kivumbi has today 2nd September 2021 while appearing on the Morning Breeze program on NBS TV faulted the Masaka murders on security agencies.

The MP said that security cannot rely on speculation but rather credible intelligence.

This follows the security agencies and government saying that they are still investigating the intent of these criminals.

“Security can’t speculate. That’s not what intelligence is about. They have to identify the real intent behind all this,” Kivumbi said.

He also said that naturally, there are people who have criminal intentions and therefore the state should always be vigilant.

He then added that any place in Uganda is as vulnerable as Masaka.

The MP also said that people might be in fear of giving classified information to these security forces and judiciary whom they know very well as prone to bribery.

He also trashed the claims by some government officials including President Museveni who said that these goons are politically motivated.

The MP said that there is no one who goes around beheading people with machetes only seeking political capital.

The opposition MP said that there is something that should be done to find employment for the youth in the central region because most of them are jobless and yet have to survive.

The only thing left for them is to resort to such criminal activities.

Reports however indicated that these criminals do not take anything after killing their targets.

The MP also took time to talk about the Ugx 10M meant to be given to the bereaving families.

He said that this is an African custom but all people want is an end to the murders and not just money.

Hon Muwanga concluded by saying that they will be going to Masaka on the 3rd of September 2021.

“We shall be travelling to Masaka tomorrow, I will not disclose for how long we shall stay there. We believe we have people’s trust, and it will be easier for us to get some information,” he added.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that there was one murder yesterday in the region resulting from these machete-wielding goons.

The incident happened last night in Kyango village Kasali sub-county Kyotera district, with the attacking of Maria Nakyanzi 61, cutting both her arms to nearly chopping them off.
