The Uganda Police Force (UPF) has come out to shockingly announce the death of the Inspector General of Police, Major General Paul Lokech.
Police through their social media pages said the deputy IGP passed on from his home this morning but no more details were revealed as to the cause of his death.
The Force however announced that it will soon be availing more details.
“The IGP with deep sorrow regrets to announce the sudden demise of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Major General Paul Lokech. He passed on from his home this morning.
A detailed statement on the cause of death and burial arrangements will be availed in due course.” The police tweeted.
Lokech has been at the rank of Major General in the UPDF and was promoted to the deputy IGP rank in December 2020.
He also served as the Chief of Staff for the Uganda Air Force for five months.
He also served as the Commandant of Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre (URDCC).
Lokech also served as the Commander of the Uganda contingent to Somalia, as part of the AMISOM peacekeeping force in Somalia aimed at fighting Islamic insurgents, the Al-Shabab on two occasions.
So far the details surrounding his death are scanty but we shall keep you posted in case of any more details.
