Andrew Mwenda Hails Ministry of Health In the Fight Against COVID 19

Political analyst and journalist Andrew Mwenda yesterday 12th August 2021 while appearing on NBS TV’s Frontline program commended the Ministry of health for it’s great work towards the fight against COVID 19.

Mwenda said that if the country is to have any success against the fight of the deadly pandemic, then emphasis should be put on the preventive measures.

This is because the country can’t afford the vaccines that cure the virus.

It was from this that Mwenda appreciated the Ministry of health because it has indeed done a great job of sensitizing people about the virus.

“If we have to deal with COVID 19, we should focus on preventive because we can’t afford treatment. I think the Ministry of Health has done so well. The government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Health, has got an incredible monitoring system of diseases. As a Ugandan, I am proud of it.” Mwenda said.

Mp Abed Bwaniika who was also in studio said that more emphasis should be put on surveillance.

This should be done especially at entry points in the country to make sure that the country is a step ahead of the virus.

Bwanika however also said that people in the medical fraternity should be given more media space to continue sensitizing the masses about the do’s and don’t’s of the pandemic.

Bwanika further warned that the country is headed for a third wave and therefore should prepare for it accordingly.

He added that the country should prioritize vaccinating the most vulnerable people and the known hotspots before adding how the government was bounced with it’s money in the purchase of AstraZeneca vaccines because they were over.

DP president Nobert Mao also joined in the conversation saying that there are bad people who have spoilt he government’s image in the fight against the pandemic.

He advised punishment for these before saying that government should quicken the rate at which they are vaccinating people.
