The Uganda Police Force has come out to deny knowledge of the whereabouts of NUP social media propagandist Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye.
Lumbuye who was placed on the wanted list after circulating the rumours of how President Museveni had passed away was allegedly arrested in Turkey last week.
Mr Okello Oryem the State Minister for Foreign Affairs came out and assured the country of how Lumbuye had been arrested and is in government hands.
He went ahead to say that Lumbuye would be deported into the country on Saturday morning to face his charges.
The Minister further said that after arriving in Uganda, he would be handed over to the country for further interrogations.
However, up to now, nobody really knows where Lumbuye is being held from or if he was arrested.
Some security sources say he’s already in the country being interrogated while others deny any knowledge about this.
NUP too seems green about what’s going on as it’s only Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya who announced that Lumbuye had successfully been evacuated to the Netherlands for asylum.
The Police spokesperson Fred Enanga while giving a security update today 9th August 2021 to the media said that there is no way he can answer the queries about Lumbuye’s whereabouts when the institution doesn’t know.
Enanga added that once Lumbuye is handed to them, they will charge him on 15 counts with the files already available.
“How do you expect us to tell you where he is if he is not in our hands. We want to tell the public that we have about 15 files on Lumbuye that we are investigating. Until Fred Kajubi Lumbuye is handed to the police, we will make a statement on him and process him along with the 15 files,” Fred Enanga said.
Enanga also took time off to congratulate all the police officers who took part and excelled in the just concluded Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan. He went ahead to say that arrangements to appreciate them when they return are ongoing.
He further added that this milestone was a result of the ground laid by the former IGP Kale Kayihura.
Enanga also talked about the continued violations of COVID 19 guidelines in Kampala adding that they were able to arrest some of the culprits.
“There are continued violations of COVID19 guidelines in Kampala. Our officers stormed bars that are stealthy operating, two of our officers were injured in the scuffle, a suspect was nabbed, and he is leading us to his colleagues,”Fred Enanga concluded.
